The US Youth Soccer National League has provided league play for the top USYS boys and girls teams since its inaugural campaign during the 2007-08 youth soccer season. The National League grew from 30 teams in two age groups in its first season to 350 teams in six age groups by the 2019-20 season — providing an annual platform for the teams to earn their place into the league and challenge themselves against top competition on a national stage. Recent years have seen exciting changes within the National League, including the introduction of the National League Conferences (2018) and National League P.R.O. (2021). The launch of National League P.R.O. provided a modified return to the original National League format that ran from 2007 through 2020, while simultaneously maintaining a strong emphasis and connection to the National League Conferences. In 2022, the National League launched Elite 64 as a club-based platform operating on a national scale.
